We didn't have a Rex Mundi thread yet, so I thought I'd start one This article isn't really "news" per se, so I didn't feel like posting it in the News thread (though someone might). But it's just an article/interview with Arvid Nelson that gets us up to date on the project, gives a little background, and reminds us that screenwriter Jim Uhls (Fight Club) has written a 2nd draft of a potential screenplay.
Wow, so there's been no news about Rex Mundi for the last 2 years, until today. But now, apparently Jim Uhls (see my first post above) is out as the screenwriter, and two new screenwriters are in. From the Hollywood Reporter:
So maybe this one is finally moving forward again. I thought, too, that I remembered hearing that they were going to change the time period from the 30's to something else (more contemporary, I guess). I remember thinking at the time that as much as Johnny loves the 30's, since Public Enemies was set in that time period maybe they would go with something different for Rex Mundi. But this article is still mentioning the 30's.
I confess that after reading the first graphic novel and maybe starting the 2nd one, I never did keep up with it, and I wasn't totally engrossed in the story. But still, it might be a cool project for him, and I'm always glad when something he would produce is still alive.
