I don't need him to go all out artsy fartsy like this one would have been, but I agree less Disney-ish. Hopefully that will happen with The Thin Man, the Bigelow Film, My American Lover, etc etc. Dark Shadows is like a separate entity altogether.
This was one that sounded like it could've been cool, but I'm not devastated to hear it probably won't happen with him. His upcoming projects sound very interesting as it is, so I'm fine with this news.
More or less a repeat of what has already been said.
START THE REVOLUTION WITHOUT ME: Despite what has been written about Johnny Depp playing the Mexican revolutionary Pancho Villa, Depp advises fans not to hold their breath.
At a press conference for his upcoming animated film Rango, Depp conceded that he has a standing offer to star as Villa in Wild Roses, Tender Roses, to be shot by Serbian filmmaker Emir Kusturica, in Spanish, with Salma Hayek as the leading lady.
"That's really a project that's a little bit up in the air," Depp said. Kusturica's an old friend and certainly a filmmaker that I admire greatly," he said of the director he worked with in Arizona Dream.
"But from the first second we spoke about it, I always had a problem with it. My dilemma is it's Pancho Villa, one of the great heroes of Mexico. And I feel it should be played by a Mexican, not some mug from Kentucky. I feel very strongly about that." Not that he's entirely dissuaded. "Let's just say it's sort of floating around at the moment."
