I don't actually care for most of the choices, there. Kate Winslet is currently in the lead, and though I really like Kate, I don't envision her as Nora at all- she just doesn't seem to be the type to do the quick banter. Ditto Cate Blanchett, though she could surprise- she was virtually unrecognizeable as Dylan in I'm Not There. Of their choices, I suppose Amy Adams might be the closest to who I'd see as Nora, but I'm not sure about her, either. Anyway, go vote for your choice!
I still have my hopes up that Vanessa will play Nora. If they're going to work together I'd rather it be something lighter than My American Lover is likely to be.
I could go for that idea! I find Vanessa much more appealing as an actress than as a singer; I think she'd be great in that role. I know Cathy mentioned Penelope's accent not working for the part, and I agree, but I'd be okay with Vanessa's accent. I know that makes no sense, but I don't think it would be as distracting for me.
Vanessa has a very minor accent compared to Penelope, so it makes total sense. The French accent also has, IMO, a more agreeable flare, at least for this type of role, and at least compared to Pene who has such a strong Spanish accent.
At first it seems like a strange choice, but then I remembered seeing her in that film... :::oops, forgot title, goes to look it up::: The Brothers Bloom, in which she had to show off her comedic side, and she was actually very funny. So this might work.
