I'm relieved too that it won't be premiere It would have been really uncomfortable to see them (or even Amber alone) there after it's been all over the press that actors are about to boycott this version of the movie and not even the director would attend...could you imagine a press conference of a movie like that? a nightmare!
I think Cullen sat on this film way too long. Maybe he couldn't do what he hoped to do with the footage. I really question the wisdom of hiring someone who's done only music videos to direct a feature film. Just the sheer length of a feature versus the length of a music video should give one pause. Gore Verbinski came out of music videos but he did a number of other films, like Mousehunt and The Ring before Pirates of the Caribbean. The other director who I think of in this regard is Laurence Dunmore who did The Libertine with, again, only a background in music videos. Now The Libertine happens to be my favorite Depp movie but many a more experienced director would have had more clout than Dunmore with regard to distribution etc. In other words, how much is political, how much is connections?
Indeed. I think a director should start a career with something smaller before to step into a project so complex like this (even Cronenberg stepped aside to direct this adaptation) or a movie like Transcendence (also a first movie, too complex for a first time director)
I remember reading at the moment that the movie schedule was a mess, comments from people of the makeup department being very upset for the long and exhausting working days (also for the actors) and Billy Bob Thornton talking about how the movie needed a biggest budget and at least a month more of shooting instead of what they had, and here's a new and enlightening article about this:
Even if it's been horribly mangled, I hope they release this movie! I'm dying to see Johnny as a famous cockney dart champion!! Love the look! Thanks so much firefly 6!!! Maybe we'll at least see a few scenes on YouTube.....
Well somewhere there's a vein of London Fields treasure and it is apparently burbling up around us. I found this one at ByeBye Blackbird and tracked back to the source at Daily Amber Heard. There are others there -- I am lazy. I have to say I far prefer these images to the horrid little clip we got to see in last summer or early autumn (September??). It was terrible -- Amber being shot. Shocking but absolutely the wrong clip to entice viewers. At least it's out of the way, and we don't need to see that again and the movie can thus end short of that final scene.
