Here's a rather backhanded new review of Tusk from Missouri State University that I guess was written because Tusk is currently available on Netflix. For a 4 out of 10 review, it's actually quite a positive review, as the writer says, "It isn't bad." He praises the directing, the editing, and especially the acting- I guess it's just the writing that he feels is weak. But what's weird is that he praises Johnny for not overacting and for playing a role other than Johnny himself, for a change. (The thing is, I always feel that Johnny very rarely overacts, but it's just critics who always seem to overreact to Johnny's performances. Tonto in The Lone Ranger, for example, is one of Johnny's most understated performances- if anything, it's Armie Hammer who hams it up a bit- but people can't see beyond the face paint. Ugh!
