Johnny Depp was criticised last night for letting his 16-year-old daughter pose seductively in a Chanel video.
Row over advert starring Depp's 16-year-old daughter: Actor criticised for letting her pose seductively in video for Chanel Lily-Rose signed by designer Karl Lagerfield as face of eyewear collection She appears in a figure-hugging dress, pouting as she models sunglasses Chanel said she was ‘a baby doll' while Mr Lagerfield said she is 'ravishing' Child psychologist said teens are not emotionally able to cope with pressures
child psychologist Dr Michelle Elliott said: ‘Sixteen-year-olds are not mentally, emotionally or intellectually able to cope with the pressures that these modelling situations place them in. I would not allow my daughter to become a model at that age.
‘I don’t think children are ready to take on the pressures at that age. Research shows that even 16-year-olds who think they are grown up find it difficult to handle pressures of grown ups.
‘We know the effects, by and large, are not good.’
Soooooooo, where exactly does he criticse Johnny specifically?? Vanessa is the one with the Chanel connection and the one who attended the Chanel events with her and yet they want to put all of this silly "criticism" on Johnny? Isn't it pretty damn obvious that Vanessa is the one who let her/encouraged her to do it? Not that there's anything wrong with it. Some people are just sick and disgusting.
And why/how is the opinion of that person suddenly relevant? I know the answer of course. They want to stir up controversy.
I hope Johnny & Vanessa taught her well to not pay any attention to what the media says.
What gets me is the only "pressure" so far comes from negative articles and so-called professional comments like that. When I looked at the video I saw a face and beautiful eyes. I didn't see what they saw. I have seen tots beauty pageants that are far more of a exploitation concern. Vanessa has been around the block more than once, I think she was with her so that kind of exploitation does not happen to her daughter. I would also imagine Johnny would insist on Vanessa being there.
Not to mention that she is clothed very appropriately. How exactly is she posing "seductively" ? Because she has that serious model look?
Yeah, ummm... if they really think that THAT is a "figure-hugging dress", then they probably need some of that new eyewear that Lily-Rose is modeling
And by the way, someone please refresh my memory- when do most models start their careers? Like 14 or something? Lily-Rose is certainly not young for a new model, and she also is not (yet) trying to make a full-time career of it. So their whole arguments are really silly
Lily-Rose Depp is the 16‑year-old daughter of Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis. If there was a gene lottery league, Lily-Rose would be a world-beater. She has the best of her parents’ mutual beauty melded on to her own lovely face.
You could say the same about Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford’s daughter Kaia, who is 13. She is also a stunner.
Both these girls have got a lifetime of being beautiful ahead of them, but that hasn’t stopped them launching modelling careers.
Lily-Rose is a muse to freakish Karl Lagerfeld at Chanel, while Kaia has been modelling for glossy magazines. Nothing can dim their luminescence, but isn’t there something a bit tawdry and unsettling about these very young girls trying to be sexy for the cameras?
It’s too much, too soon. I don’t know how or why their mothers allow it, instead of encouraging the innocence of girlhood to last as long as possible.
She looks amazing in the ads. Very beautiful. With Vanessa guiding her, it's for sure no surprise. The part that bothers me is that Karl guy. It always grossed me out seeing Vanessa with him all the time. I remember at one time he was painting nudes, and he wanted to paint Johnny! Of course the people commenting will be cruel...that's what they do.
I am surprised to hear me saying this but wow, that Chanel video....it made me uncomfortable. It's funny the music video was fine for me. I like it and have listened to it a half dozen times. I get kids doing stuff like that with other kids, the language etc. No biggie for me. But the Chanel video is really adultified and that hits a chord that makes me wince. That look she shoots over her glasses isn't a look that I see in my very urban high school, and truly I am not worried about kids sleeping with each other. I am worried about adults putting their eroticism on a kid who should just be a kid.
I don't see why she has to be rushed into this? I know, her mom did it all real early. What about things besides modeling? What about being your own person and going your own route. Just sleezy as sh*t
Oh gosh. She is gorgeous!!! To me,the Video looks pretty normal. I can't see anything bad going on here and i thing she is her own person. It seems to me ,she likes to do modeling/filming and not only because of her parents.
