Is Animal Logic Entertainment, your development arm, based in LA?
It’s here as well. Felicity Staunton is a creative executive here, and I have three execs in LA. We all travel. They travel here, we travel there. We work as one unit. We’re repped out of CAA, [and] our lawyers are there. But our creative hub is here, so we work the two to our advantage.
Are you reading a lot of scripts or developing in-house?
We do a whole range of things. We’ve got things we’ve optioned. We partnered with Johnny Depp’s company Infinitum Nihil on Fortunately, the Milk, the Neil Gaiman book, then we brought on Edgar Wright to direct. Then we all brought on [Flight of the Conchords frontman] Bret McKenzie to write and shopped it around. Fox were very aggressive and we set it up at Fox.
good to have some update regarding this film, hope we will get to know his actual involvement in it, like what role he's playing and other castings etc.
The slate also includes Fortunately, the Milk, an adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s children’s novel scripted by Kiwi Bret McKenzie (Flight of the Conchords), a collaboration with Johnny Depp’s production company Infinitum Nihil for 20th Century Fox; and Astro Boy, a live-action sci-fi superhero movie based on the cartoon character for New Line.
Do we know for a fact that Johnny's going to be in the film. Could it be that IN is just doing production work?
The first article (top of page 1 of this thread) did say he would star and produce, but that was so long ago that I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't star, at this point. I read the book, and it was cute enough, I guess, but I wouldn't be too disappointed if he didn't star.
