I mean, is it normal to have a screening that early? not even have a release date.
And also wonder what kind of screening it is, for industry people? or general public since they said invite you and your friends........ how do people get invited?
There isn't a release date, but I think some articles have said that there would be a fall release. It's getting a little late for a fall release if they don't even have a release date or trailer yet, but sometimes for some of these smaller films they can do these things on a shorter schedule. I don't know what kind of screening it was, but I used to be signed up for a film club where occasionally they would e-mail and say you could reply and get free passes for an advance screening of a movie. At first, it was relatively easy to reply quickly and get in, but I sort of lost track of this club when it'd be filled up before I could reply, and I guess eventually I got dropped from their mailing list. The few films I got to see this way weren't so far in advance- maybe only a week to a month. And I think I was only asked once to fill out a questionnaire, but for some of them they were asking people questions on their way out of the film. I think this is a little different in that I think they are trying to get feedback from the audience before they make their final edit-- I've heard of such early audience screenings where they say something they didn't like and there is time to fix it before the film is finalized. I suspect these are mostly West Coast deals. It could be for industry people,
but often these are for the public since they do want to have feedback from the actual filmgoing audience.
At any rate, I hope the film went over well!!
