Another point/question- just wondering why there was never any mention that Will got at least 1 day every 10 years to spend on dry land, even with the curse. Henry would be 9 at the first meet-up. How old was he at the start of this film-- I've read both 10 and 12. 10 makes more sense because 9 years later, they wouldn't have had another meet-up yet (though they'd almost be due for it). So when Will sends Henry away why doesn't he at least tell him they'll get to see each other again even if it'll be years from then? And also, why is he already getting barnacles at the start of the film when he didn't have any after the first 10 years? The things that keep me up at night

Well, I watched the Deppster play Sparrow today in the new Pirate film. I read a few reviews before seeing it, and was a little afraid, but I really enjoyed it. SO good to see the Captain again. I really loved the ending too. jollycrew
Okay, upon second and third viewing I caught some things that had completely gone past me the first few times. Most important was the conversation between Barbossa and the witch. Do you remember him talking about his rescuing her from death and then she said something about how she'd repaid him for that by "cursing his enemies."! Now, over the previous few years Barbossa's luck had gone up and up, while Jack's had gone from bad to worse. In fact Jack is so down he actually ends up betraying the compass by trading it for a bottle of rum. In the past the compass has been loaned or taken from him but he never betrayed it until he trades it for a mere bottle of rum, so I'm thinking his run of bad luck is due to the witch. But at the end of the movie "all curses are broken" when the trident is broken, and Jack's luck rises once more. He has his regained the Black Pearl, his crew and his spark. I am quite intrigued by Jack saying at the end “I have a rendezvous beyond my beloved horizon."
Re: Tia Dalma and the compass. Either they decided to retcon the history of the compass or Tia somehow obtained the compass sneakily from Jack at a certain point in their "complicated history" and he had to barter to get it back.
All in all it was a fun movie, now bring me that DVD!
I went to see it yesterday evening,i got tickets for the Preview. It was kinda crowded. First of all, i watched without any expectiations, which always ruined Movies for me. I only wanted to have fun and enjoy the thing. It was ace seeing Johnny on the huge Screen again. Wow, i had quite the feels, mate! And i had that huuuge Pirate Vibe, which was completely lost when P4 came out. I really can say, that P5 is my fave now with P1. It was incredible made!!!
The Beginning from the Movie was great, man! It just catapulted you into the Story. Very smooth and gloomy. I loved it. It was great to start with Will and Henry Turner Meeting on the Dutchman and his son telling him he was looking after him and will save him from the ship. Later then, Henry meets Carina, and they move on together. ( I thought their love romance was well done, it wasn't to much cliche and very natural, Carinas Character wasn't really construed on being romantic, to me she seemed very ambitiou and not looking after a romance with Henry or someone else. The editing in P5 was GREAT WORK, every Location was sooo damn beautiful as well. When they found Poseidons Trident, under water, with that blue Lagune water, wow, it was amazing done!! It gaves you 'i want to be on Caribbean Vacation now' Feelings! What i really loved was Javier as Salazar. He was an awesome Villain!!! And you could relate to him and share his feelings, why he was so full of Revenge, especially because of Sparrow. Furious Performance. Blackbird in P4 wasn't not nearly that great, he actually is the most terrifying Pirate ever. I just coulnd't take him serious. Javier Patches this!!! yay!!!
Goeffreys Debut was great too. He (Barbossa) finding his lost Daughter Carina in a kinda clumpsy way and sacrifices himself after that, because of rescue the Crew. What a Moment, fast done and yet so emotional.
Johnny was like always the most attractive and swashbuckling Pirate i've ever seen. He put quite something into Jack, which makes him look different in some ways, in a good way. He was drunk, crazy and funny which makes his Performance again to the most important thing of this Franchise. Always a win. Thank you Johnny! I don't care what others say, you are my favorite Pirate ever!!
Scenes with Javier and Johnny were simply dope! Especially the one with Young Sparrow.
CGI was very good in this movie and don't be afraid, there is not so much as it look like in the Trailer. Salazars Ship is quite something and as they are Ghosts so is their Ship too. It was appropriate. And not to overdone. I watched in 3D and the Ghosts look fantastic!
The Little Scene with Keira and Orlando was short but quite emotional made. I enjoyed it sooo much, i hope you all will too.
I agree with you 100%, Saby, and I got very choked up at that ^ reunion scene.
