thanks everybody! this is probably too obvious to have to say, but i guess lawam must've been filmed around the same time as dead man. i never realized, till seeing all these stills, how many different expressions he shows in the movie.
Actually, according to the Timeline LA Without A Map filmed in autumn 1997. I forget where that info came from, but his appearance was right on (hair growing in after FALILV)...
The movie apparently premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in Sept. of 1998. I think the hair in the Dead Man poster was just a wig. (EDIT- the Dead Man poster in LAWAM, I mean, not the real Dead Man poster from Dead Man! )
thanks, cathy. i meant just the parts where he looks like william blake; i was thinking those scenes must've been filmed around that time. i had thought they were out-takes from dead man or something. but your explanation makes more sense. thery did a great job, didn't they? must've been a real kick for johnny
No, I don't think they were outtakes from Dead Man- the expressions were too deliberate and responsive to the other character. Plus, he was in those other scenes. The Dead Man Posters scenes were all very brief clips; the last scene where he's at a film screening is very short, as well- it's really the sailor hat/fried chicken scene where Johnny has an extended conversation with the lead character.
