FWIW, in that article, Frank Miller is only talking about Sin City 2, though he vaguely makes reference to a potential "trilogy". There was never really a solid rumor that Johnny was going to be in Sin City 2; I know 2 was on Johnny's IMDb page for awhile, but I don't think it was really grounded in anything solid and it was eventually dropped.
Johnny's name *has* been bandied about for Sin City 3. At this point, so much time has passed that it kind of seems like the moment has passed for Johnny's involvement. Is Miller being cagey when he says "no" only to a question about 2? Or is 3 so far off that Johnny has bowed out? Or is the possibility of there even *being* a 3 so shaky now (you can't have 3 without 2, and even 2 seems on somewhat shaky ground by now) that they don't even want to think that far ahead anymore?
Okay, okay, I admit it- I'm grasping at straws I was thrilled about the Sin City idea ever since Johnny was rumored for the first one back in '04, and I am not yet quite ready to let it die. But I do think it's probably a good thing to not get our hopes up
Didn't really want to make a thread for this, since it's not news and in fact makes it sound like the project (at least as far as Johnny's involvement) is dead. But as this is the first mention of The Ginger Man that I've heard in years, I thought I would post that at least Donleavy was actually asked about this recently.
I didn't mean that DS would be a fun role, just fun for JOHNNY, who has fun on even the most dramatic sets, because Tim is there. I also feel like this role will be more like SH than ST, but we'll see...
“But there's still some stuff definitely that I'd like to do out there. There's certain books that I've been in love with for years that I'd love to bring to life – things like Tom Robbins 'Fierce Invalids Home from Hot Climates,' that's a great, great book. We're in the works now to put 'The Ginger Man' by JP Donleavy up, get that on its feet, so that's a very exciting possibility.”
