Well, I did like it. But, like many of his films, it was different. Loved all the close-ups of his expressions. And, again as in many of his movies, I'm amazed at the co-stars. Would recommend this one to a really true JD fan.
This was one of my favorites right from the beginning. The music is what gets to me the most. When I think of it in my head I hear that Neal Young guitar and it sends chills up my spine. The images of him stumbling through the funeral boat village stunned me the fist time I watched it. There are so many layers to it that it's one I've watched over and over again. Each time picking out some other aspect to focus on. Jim Jarmusch is an amazing director. I think he is one of the best "treasures" that I've learned to appreciate directly due to my obsession with Johnny. I don't know if I would have picked up on him otherwise.

Neil Young is freaking brilliant, Dead Man and the Neil Young music is so perfect together I can hear it playing in my head right now. That is why I love the Dead Man Soundtrack so much because every note in th songs you actually play the whole movie in your head and that is brilliant ;D
I feel like there was a fog in front of my eyes for 36 years, and the second Lily-Rose was born, that fog just lifted and everything became totally clear and focused~ Johnny Depp To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world.
OMG!! duzit picked up this thread! thanks duzit, Laura, Sam and EB!!

I have no idea why, but this morning a Newsweek review of Dead Man (and one of Donnie Brasco) arrived in my news alerts. Way to be timely, Google! ;D Anyway, I don't know if y'all have ever read this, but I thought it was a great review, so I thought I'd post the link again:
