Thanks cathy. I think so too, what you said about Johnnys costumes and Makeup. 100% agreed. I also think it's one of the best Films, where the writing came from Stephen King. I read the Story to it 'Secret window-secret garden' which is awesome. Not only because i admire King. Johnny did an great Job in this Film as well.
I read Secret Window Secret Garden as well, and I actually like the film ending better! The novella/short story felt grounded in reality to me (well, as much as a Stephen King story ever is ) until the end when some supernatural stuff just got thrown in seemingly out of the blue (to me), so I always found that a little odd. Whereas the film ending was "perfect", as Mort would say (Your mileage may vary, of course!)
My favorite King adaptation would probably still be The Shawshank Redemption, followed closely by The Green Mile. And there are a few others but Secret Window is definitely up there, and I wish it had gotten more recognition when it came out!
Trivia: While Johnny Depp is looking to a mirror, you faintly hear him whisper, When Sister Veronica found out about the windows she withdrew the school from the competition. This is a line from Rosemary Woodhouse's first dream in Rosemary's Baby.
Whoever made up this piece of trivia should be shot. It's crap. I hired Rosemary's Baby and just watched it and I couldn't find that line in the film anywhere. Then I got out Secret Window and put the sub-titles on to hear what Mort is saying. He says, something about his sister finding out about the broken window or something like that. Maybe I have the wrong scene for Mort, but I don't know. I went back over Rosemary's Baby scene by scene with the sub-titles on and I couldn't find it. Don't trust IMDb for the correct information, that's all I can say. I thought Rosemary's Baby was a very good film, even though I don't like Mia Farrow, she was very good in this film.
his is actually true. I know Rosemary’s Baby very well, I’ve watched it many times. I just noticed the quote while watching Secret Window, paused & googles to see if anyone else noticed.
Hi mae! . I don't recall this discussion and I don't know Rosemary's Baby well enough to know/remember what was said. (I watched it about 6 months ago- too bad I wasn't looking for this part!) Also I often watch movies with closed captioning because my hearing is not what it used to be .and I know that it's not always 100% accurate. But it's great if this is true, and it's so like Johnny to incorporate a little easter egg like that!! Coincidentally I just got an item on my news feed about how people (including Stephen King fans) don't give this film more credit and it got me thinking I should watch it again . Maybe now I will
