I must say that I have not been so enthralled with a movie since I was a teenager. Saw 'West Side Story' 14 times. Almost wore out the album, yes I said album. So, needless to say, I am not a fawning young thing. So, back to ST. A friend & I went to a 4:10pm showing at a stadium type theater. It was us and another couple. We felt like we were at a private showing. I had watched a few PBS Sweeney's on You-tube, so I knew the basic plot. But, I must say the Burton/Depp version was far, far better, both visually and lyrically. I was just blown away by Depp being so clear and easy to understand what he was actually singing. And his awesome acting justs takes you right into the story. He is indeed the victim. As for ALL the blood, you just have to take it in stride with the theme of the movie. There are a lot worse junk 'slashers' out there. I bought the Deluxe Soundtrack CD, the one w/the book. It was well worth the money. It has all the lyrics and some of the script as well. As with the WSS album, I am wearing out the CD. I do not tire of the songs and feel as if I need a daily 'fix' of ST.
I usually do not watch any award shows, but this year I will be watching with great anticipation. Here's hoping JD gets his well deserved Oscar!!!! Thanks for listening......
I don't know if it's been mentioned, but I happened to find out that Ed Sanders is up for a Young Artist Award for "BEST PERFORMANCE IN A FEATURE FILM: Supporting Young Actor - Comedy or Musical" The awards will take place on March 30.

I have one question.....where was Jerry at in ST? I was lucky enough to get my hands on a copy early (helps to have a sis that works at the library) so I watched it the other night but still couldn't find him. Of course, I was actually too busy looking at Sweeney to notice much of anything else.
He gets slashed during "Johanna." Johnny takes a huge wind-up before he slashes him, if that helps any. You don't get to see him for very long. Buck, on the other hand, you get to see for quite a bit as he sits down and looks out the window before Johnny slits his throat. Buck is near the beginning of the sequence, Jerry near the end.

Jerry Judge is Johnny's Chief of Security and Buck Holland is one of Johnny's drivers. Buck has known and worked with Johnny since at least 1995/Nick of Time.
Not sure about how long he has had Jerry around.
Sounds like Johnny has a lot of people that he is keeps employed. That is a huge responsibility to have. Not only to provide for his own family but for others too. And, while we're mentioning Nick of Time, that is one of my favorites. Shows just what a father would do for their child.
